**in memory of Marion**
At the age of 21 I got engaged and my Mum suggested going to evening classes to make my wedding cake - to be honest it wasn't top of my to do list but i agreed anyway (sorry mum) ... 18 months later we made my wedding cake and i got totally hooked on my new hobby attending more and more night classes, it was certainly different from my day job in a bank.
Only a few months after making my own wedding cake a regular customer at the bank told me her daughter, who i went to primary and secondary school with was getting married. I Showed her my wedding cake and she asked if i would make her daughters cake. I was a bit blown away that she asked but agreed to make the cake for my school friend.
Marion lost her fight last week, i hadn't seen her for many many years but i owe her a lot (not that she will ever know now) but the Phrase fake it till you make it springs to mind .......had i not made her wedding cake i may not have had the courage to take my hobby to another level (Marion i owe you a lot) - i cant count how many wedding cakes ive made since then but there are so many that have a back story or a close friend attached in someway - Ive loved making them all
